Welcome back!
Today, I'm going to give you some tips on personal appearance and why it's important to look good! I'd pay attention if I were you, because this is important.
I'm just gonna say it. I judge people. I judge people I see every single day. I'm not the only one who does this, everyone does. Think about it! You know a police officer is a police officer by their uniform. You need some help at Target so you look for someone in a red shirt and khakis. If that police officer's shirt is untucked, too small, and he hasn't shaved in a couple days, your probably not going to feel so safe are you? Everyone judges. The first thing I look at is someones outfit. If I am at a nice restaurant, and someone is wearing a tank top, baseball hat and flip-flops...I'm going to assume no one taught this person how to dress according to where your at. Here's some secrets to follow for the rest of your life.
Tip #1: ALWAYS dress for success!
This is the first tip because it is by far the most important! Look at the guy in the picture, Tickle-me-elmo pajama pants in a public place. No one wants to see your pajamas. Even if you're just going to Walmart!Living in this country gives everyone the right to wear whatever they please, but if you want to be taken seriously, ALWAYS dress like you're going to meet someone important.
Relaxing at home as well. Studies show that if you dress nicely while at home, you feel better mentally and are most likely to be WAY more productive throughout your relaxation day!
Read more about there here.
Tip #2: Buy a suit and make sure it fits!
You never know when you might have to dress formally to an event. Whether it's a wedding, job interview, or sadly, a funeral.. you are 100% going to need to own a suit at some point in your life, so why not now?
Once you get your suit, MAKE SURE IT FITS. Nothings looks worse than a badly fitted suit. Big or small. Invest the extra money and go to a tailor, and get it sized to you. Trust me, it'll be worth it.
Also color matters! Did you know in many companies where you dress formally, black or pinstriped suits are worn only by the CEO or high up executives? Just to be safe, get a grey or blue suit and make sure the color of your shoes matches your belt. After that you'll be solid.
Here are 27 rules about wearing a suit every person should know.
Tip #3: Look CLEAN!
When I see someone who hasn't gotten a haircut in months, has unkempt hair/facial hair, and in general just looks like they don't shower...I assume that person doesn't care about themselves. If they don't care about the small things, I'm also going to assume they don't care about big things either. I wouldn't hire that person, would you? I know this sounds harsh, but this is the truth. Of course, always keep in mind that some don't have the luxury of being able to shower every day!
